Kayla’s Kitchen was started in 2014 by Kayla Myers when she bought the former Applebasket Café at age 21! Kayla is a graduate of Chequamegon High School and Nicolet Technical College with an associate degree in culinary arts. “I am so excited to have the opportunity to use my degree in my hometown. I love the small-town life and knowing just about everyone when they walk through the door.” Since opening, she and her staff have significantly expanded the menu to include homemade soups, fresh salads, made to order wraps, sandwiches, paninis and an extensive coffee menu! “My grandparents have always been a huge influence in my cooking. I had one grandma who always cooked for an army (even though there was only five of us,) and one who loved to cook and bake fun specialty things from around the world.” These styles are evident in everything we do at Kayla’s Kitchen from big batches of homemade cookies and bread to large simmering kettles of soup! The kitchen is openTuesday- Friday 8AM- 2PM.

In 2015 Kayla bought Upper Street Apparel and the new name became Kayla’s Kitchen and Closet. The clothing portion of the store carries sizes Small-3X in both women’s and men’s clothing. “People are not wearing so many dressy styles to work anymore, therefore we try to carry clothing for every occasion from weddings to grocery shopping!” We carry a variety of accessories as well, including Shoes, Sandals, Purses, Jewelry, Hats, Sunglasses and much more! The Closet is open Tuesday-Friday 8AM-5PM and Saturday 9AM-3PM.

Besides the delicious foods, coffees, desserts, and comfortable clothing Kayla’s Kitchen and Closet also has a wide selection of gifts and locally made products like Patterson Maple Syrup, Door County Coffee, Grandma Dotties Dips and Cocktails, Mission House Coffee, and Terri Morrison Kaiser’s books. Kayla’s Kitchen and Closet is also a drop off/pickup location for Phillips Dry Cleaning and Laundry. You can drop off your items any time during business hours and Rachel will contact you when your things are ready to be picked back up! “I love partnering with other local businesses. We definitely all benefit from working together and helping each other out!”

In 2022 The “New Year, New You” mindset really set in for the store and we are so excited for everyone to see all the hard work that was put into the refresh! Everything from the ceiling to the carpet has been updated!
